Networking for the Soul

As networking has become the panacea for the underemployed and unemployed in the new millennium, the experience can often be as superficial and misdirected as people going to bars to find their soul mates. For me personally, networking for work-related reasons has not as great a need as it is to hook up with people who can talk about something other than their work or their kids. Both are important and have been very much part of my life, but in the process I realized many of the engaging discussions that were so much part of my college life began to dissipate over time. Suburban life had become the death knell of great conversations and interacting with creative and thoughtful people. I'd love to hear to what extent and how you've been able to prosper intellectually and spiritually. By the way, I'm happy to visit with you about career stuff too.
